Step into a Model Parliament and debate issues that matter right now — from climate policy to digital rights. Discover how laws are made, what rights protect you, and how youth can influence real change. You’ll research current events, evaluate media bias, and take action on a community issue. Gain confidence as a thinker, speaker, and problem-solver ready to shape your world.
NAC2O – First Nations, Métis & Inuit in Canada
Experience history and identity through Indigenous voices, art, and storytelling. You’ll create artifacts, hear from guest speakers, and explore how Indigenous perspectives challenge and enrich our understanding of Canada. Learn about colonization, resilience, and reconciliation while developing empathy, cultural awareness, and reflective thinking — skills that help you engage respectfully in a diverse world.
Grade 11 Courses
CLU3M – Understanding Canadian Law
Argue your case, challenge injustice, and think like a lawyer. You’ll analyze evidence in a crime scene investigation, argue in a Mock Trial, and visit the Ontario Superior Court to see justice in action. Learn how Canada’s legal system protects rights and freedoms, and explore issues of ethics, equity, and fairness that shape society. Build reasoning and advocacy skills valued in law, politics, and public service. This course also counts towards Business SHSM requirements.
HZB3M – Philosophy: The Big Questions
Ever wondered who we are, why we exist, or how we know what’s true? In this course, you’ll explore the biggest ideas humanity has ever wrestled with — from moral dilemmas and free will to whether artificial intelligence can really think or feel. You’ll investigate a classroom “murder mystery” using logic and reasoning, debate modern ethical issues, and discover how great thinkers still shape the way we see the world today. By the end, you’ll learn not just what to think but how to think — sharpening your ability to reason clearly, argue respectfully, and see meaning in the questions that define life. This course also counts towards Health & Wellness SHSM requirements.
CHW3M – World History to the 15th Century
Dig into ancient civilizations and uncover the rise of empires, religions, and ideas that shaped the modern world. You’ll recreate a Greek Olympic Games, build a Zen Garden, and investigate ancient artifacts like a real archaeologist. Examine how culture, innovation, and power connected early societies — and see how those same patterns still influence our politics, beliefs, and technologies today. This course also counts towards Energy SHSM requirements.
Grade 12 Courses
CHY4U – World History Since the 15th Century
Explore how empires, revolutions, and global ideas changed the modern world — and continue to shape it. Debate the causes of revolutions, analyze art and propaganda, and design an alternate-history “What If?” project to reimagine turning points in history. Study the forces of innovation, colonization, and resistance that connect the past to today’s global challenges. This course also counts towards Energy SHSM requirements.
CLN4U – Canadian & International Law
From local justice to global diplomacy, explore how law defines fairness, freedom, and responsibility. You’ll argue a case in an International Court, negotiate a UN crisis, and analyze human rights and environmental law. Learn about legal principles, global governance, and ethics in action. Build your advocacy, research, and reasoning skills. This course also counts towards Business SHSM requirements.
HZT4U – Philosophy: Questions & Theories
Question everything — from truth and justice to free will and the meaning of life. You’ll host a Philosophy Café, design a Thought Experiment, and build your own Ideal Society inspired by philosophers. Develop skills in argumentation, critical reading, and analysis that strengthen your writing and reasoning in all subjects — and prepare you to think deeply about the world and your place in it. This course also counts towards Health & Wellness SHSM requirements.
NDW4M – Contemporary Indigenous Issues & Perspectives in a Global Context
Examine global Indigenous experiences and the power of resilience and activism. You’ll investigate land rights, environmental justice, and cultural survival through case studies and digital storytelling. Learn how Indigenous knowledge, leadership, and worldviews contribute to sustainability and social change. Gain a global perspective rooted in empathy, truth, and reconciliation. This course also counts towards Business & Health and Wellness SHSM requirements.
